Falls County VINELink Became IVSS-Counties

Texas changed its county notification channel on September 1, 2025. The Texas Attorney General directs users to Texas IVSS-Counties, operated with a new provider. Existing county registrations were carried forward, and existing telephone and text notices continued. Returning account users were asked to update passwords.

The familiar search phrase remains useful, but old VINELink directions are no longer the primary workflow. Falls County participation was not proved by a public statewide list. Check the live agency choices. If Falls County is unavailable, call the Falls County Sheriff at 254-883-1431 and ask what notification method or state integration is active.

How to Run a Falls County VINELink Release Check

The county portal can be searched without creating an account. Identifiers are safer than names because they reduce false matches. When only a name is known, compare the agency, custody location, and any lawful identifying details before selecting a record.

1. Open Texas IVSS-Counties and complete the CAPTCHA.
2. Enter a full or partial name in first-name-then-last-name order. If spelling is uncertain, the portal suggests starting with the first three letters of each name.
3. When available, search with a DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking Number.
4. Open the matching person and agency record. Do not merge same-name results.
5. Read the supplied custody or supervision status, then save the retrieval date.

For a person who has already vanished from the portal, the Falls County released-inmate search path uses the sheriff movement record and court disposition instead of treating an empty result as an answer.

What Falls County Release Notifications Show

Available fields depend on what the participating agency sends. The portal is best used to identify a current record and subscribe before the event. Its own terms disclaim official-record status and do not guarantee accuracy, timeliness, or completeness.

A release alert does not necessarily identify bond, dismissal, sentence completion, parole, or another legal type. Nor does it rule out a new hold. Use its timestamp as a lead, then request the movement entry and matching court order.

Note: Transfer is a change of custodian, not return to the community.

Register for a Falls County Release Notification

Registration can occur with or without a portal account. Enroll while the correct record is still visible. Keep the final confirmation because it helps show which person, agency, and delivery channel were selected.

2. Select phone, text, or email and supply the requested contact details.

Old Texas VINE PIN Instructions

Legacy material directed Texas users to VINELink or 877-TX4-VINE. It allowed several phone or email registrations and asked users to choose a four-digit phone PIN. During an automated call, entering the PIN followed by the pound sign acknowledged the notice and stopped repeat attempts. Unanswered calls could continue for up to 48 hours.

Those details help interpret an old registration or call. They should not replace the current IVSS-Counties workflow. Existing registrations were transferred during the 2025 change, but returning account users may still need to update a password. Contact current support when an old enrollment cannot be found.

Falls County Jail and TDCJ Use Separate Alerts

Texas IVSS-Counties covers participating county custody and court events. The distinct TDCJ IVSS covers a person in TDCJ custody or on parole or mandatory supervision. Notices in the state system can include parole eligibility, Board decisions, bench-warrant movement, discharge, and prison release by email, letter, text, or phone.

This split is vital in Falls County because the county jail sits near William P. Hobby Unit and Marlin Unit. A transfer from Falls County Jail to either prison crosses from sheriff custody to TDCJ custody. Confirm the county movement first, then enroll in the state channel. The interface supports the identifier-first process described above, but its result remains a notification record rather than the sheriff's official release entry.

When a Falls County IVSS Search Misses

A failed name search can reflect spelling, punctuation, a suffix, a processing lag, agency participation, or the portal's rule that fully released people may no longer appear. Try the first three letters of each name in the order the portal requests. Then use a SID, Jail ID, DOC ID, or Permanent Booking Number if one is available. Never combine records solely because two names look alike.

If Falls County is not listed as an agency, contact the Sheriff rather than selecting a nearby county. Ask whether the office still has custody, whether a local alert service is active, and how to request the existing booking and movement record. Give a bounded date range and a booking or cause number when possible. Request the release or transfer date and time, recorded movement type, and destination agency if that field is public.

A court record answers a different part of the question. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, or commitment can explain why movement was authorized, while the jail record shows when staff carried it out. For a felony district case, use the Falls County District Clerk. County-level criminal matters generally route to the County Clerk. A docket setting is not a disposition, and an order alone does not prove physical departure.

When the county movement says TDCJ, continue with the state offender search and state IVSS. If it names USMS or ICE, use the destination system. This source-by-source method is slower than treating a blank portal result as release, but it preserves the key distinction between community release and transfer.

Limits of a Falls County VINELink Check

Neither county IVSS nor TDCJ IVSS is a federal locator. A federal case belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator and federal docket. An immigration transfer may require ICE's locator, whose no-result also is inconclusive. Search only the system tied to the actual case.

The Texas DPS Sex Offender Registry is also separate. It covers only people with a continuing legal registration duty, not all released people. An absent registry entry says nothing about whether someone was released. Protected victim details and other nonpublic identifiers remain outside public results.

Use a short proof chain: alert, source-agency movement record, and legal authority. The alert gives notice. The sheriff or TDCJ record identifies the physical event. The court or Board record explains the authority. Together they avoid the two common errors of calling a transfer a release and calling a missing result proof.

Note: Save the alert, but rely on the agency record for the official event type and destination.
